About

Milena Charlotte Bassen is an illustrator and artist based in Offenbach am Main. She creates digitally animated cartoons and is working with analog techniques as ink and nib. With her animations she explores the connection of drawn (moving) lines and an ecological mindset. Her drawings have a conceptual background and her free projects and publications often deal with topics concerning human relationships, wether to other humans or nonhumans. With this background she relates to ecological projects but also everything around food production and gastronomy etc. She likes to find contexts and different ways of making thoughts visual.

In her fashion objects she concentrates on sustainable materials and a conscious concept.

After studying at Universität der Künste Berlin, OCAD University Toronto and Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach she finished her studies in 2022 with a project about Bruno Latour's notion of "modernity", the consequences of "modern" behaviour and which role animation played in the past and which place she could claim in a "nonmodern" approach to nonhumans.
